About FIC

Forum for International Cooperation (FIC) is a non-profit organization (NGO) that has a vision of strengthening people's social, economic and democratic rights and opportunities in the society. The vision seeks to be realized in community with others in concrete projects in Denmark, Europe and Africa.

In FIC, we focus on education, employment and labour market conditions, including lifelong learning, validation of prior learning and social and ethnic integration. FIC has also focus on promoting the social dialogue, creating solidarity between people across national borders and strengthening the role of the civil society organizations.

Additionally, we work with information on national and international issues as well as the EU debate and education, offering courses and study tours on EU matters to companies, colleges, schools, etc.

FIC's activities are concentrated on two main areas:

  • Projects on education, employment and labour market conditions in Denmark, Europe and Africa.
  • Information work on political and social conditions in Denmark, Europe and Africa.

The basic values of FIC's work is the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Social Charters, Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

FIC is a democratic membership organization with individual members and 24 collective member organizations, where the 22 local organizations are representing 90,000 members.

FIC is also a member of SOLIDAR, whose members are 52 national organisations with operations in approx. 90 countries. Additionally, FIC is a member of the NGO Forum, Concord Denmark and Kooperationen.

FIC's work is organized into a national board, regional committees, as well as in FIC SOLIDAR Youth Network. The daily operations of the projects are handled by 6 employees at FIC's secretariat in Copenhagen and 2 local project coordinators in East Africa.
